WPA2 vs WPA3: Which Wi-Fi Security Should You Use?
WPA2 vs WPA3: Which Wi-Fi Security Should You Use?
Summary
WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) has been the standard for Wi-Fi security since 2004. WPA3 is the latest generation, introduced in 2018 to fix several vulnerabilities in WPA2 and provide stronger encryption for modern devices.
Overview
Encryption is what prevents your neighbors or hackers from “sniffing” your Wi-Fi traffic. While WPA2 is still “safe” for most people, it is vulnerable to certain types of attacks (like the KRACK attack). WPA3 introduces SAE (Simultaneous Authentication of Equals), which makes it nearly impossible for hackers to guess your password using automated tools.
